Over the last academic year, we have purchased many new and high quality texts, some of which are current best sellers! As these books are so highly recommended, we are launching a reading competition across years 5 & 6.

The children will be split into small teams and will each be given a copy of a book. It is their task to read the entire book thoroughly over a set period of time (maximum 4 weeks). There are many different ways in which the children can gain an understanding of the book, such as:

Reading alone, shared reading with a friend and being read to.

We therefore encourage parents to share the chosen book with their child. You can also discuss and question children on the text to further their understanding.

At the end of every book, the children will participate in a quiz where they will try to earn as many points for their team as possible.
