| Toms Midnight Garden |
|
In class we’ve been learning about Tom’s Midnight Garden. On the 1st of October 2010 it came to life, before our very eyes at our school when a theatre company came to perform it. The story was about a boy called Tom who went to live with his Aunt and Uncle for the summer because his brother had measles. In their house was an old grandfather clock. The old grandfather clock could never strike the right time. When it struck thirteen Tom opened the back door and he saw a magnificent midnight garden!!! The story continues with Tom making a new friend whilst exploring the garden. After the performance we met the main characters and interviewed some of the audience. Ansuka from year one said “I thought the play was very good. The funniest part was when the old lady lost her slipper.” Mauve from year 4 thought that the play was very good and liked the ice skating part and her favourite character was Miss Tremble. Tiya’s (from year 3) favourite part of the play was when Tom saw the Midnight Garden for the first time. Her favourite character was Hatty as she was funny. She also said that she would like to step in to the shoes of Tom for the day. Casey, also from year 1, said” My favourite part was when the songs were played. I also enjoyed it when Hatty got married to Edward Bartholomew.” Saul from year 6 said “It was spectacular. My favourite part was when Mrs Tremble came in and started bad- mouthing Tom. I found it so funny. If I had the opportunity, I would like to play the part of Tom as he was the best character!” We also interviewed the Polish club; they all agreed that the play was very funny. They described the play as amazing, interesting and entertaining. They would all like to watch it again soon. Year 6 teacher: Mr.Ryan said “I thought that watching the play made the book come to life really well. I nearly cried with amazement because it was so good!” Overall the performance was a great success with all! Reporters Ajay Kansara Megan Farmer Charlotte Blackman Lucas Pollard-Ventura |
