Ideas to support your Year 4 child:
•Read every day. Ask questions about what might happen next. What evidence is there in there text that supports your view?
•Write a book review - include title, author, a blurb and your personal view
•Practise timetables- sing, chant, write, read, flash cards, internet games - it's important you can recall them out of sequence
•Practise spellings - look in your home learning book for the year 3 and 4 sheet
•Use written methods for addition and subtraction (column, counting on, mental partitioning). Use money for a real life context. How much change? How much needing to be saved?
•Use everyday objects to practise fractions - how much pizza have you eaten? What fraction of the socks are blue? What fraction of the cars you can see are red?
•Make a plan to decorate a room and measure the perimeter
•Write an explanation text about your hobby

  • Try something new!
